Abstract

Recent research suggests that psychedelic use under controlled, therapeutic conditions may effectively reduce depression and some types of substance abuse. However, our findings suggest that such benefits do not obtain with recreational psychedelic use, which is associated with higher levels of depression, substance use, boredom proneness and state boredom.
