Leverging Social Media to Bridge the Mental Health Treatment Gap

We examined clinical diagnoses and treatment needs of individuals who socially network online about depression via online surveys. Of 173 non-treatment engaged participants, those meeting criteria for major depressive disorder (MDD) reported more treatment barriers including attitudinal, structural, and financial barriers versus those who did not meet criteria for MDD.
