Abstract

Does spatial language improve preschoolers’ shape knowledge, and does SES moderate the growth rate at which children learn about shapes? Results suggest that instruction with spatial language significantly improved shape identification, with low-SES children improving on shape knowledge at a significantly greater rate than high-SES children.
