Abstract

Contingent scaffolding is positively linked to children’s self-regulation; however, this relationship is predominantly documented in middle- and high-income families. This study examines the quality of scaffolding among forty-four low-income Chinese families. Parent education was the only sociodemographic variable correlated with scaffolding and contingency was not correlated with executive function.
