Abstract

This cross-sectional study examines gender differences in self-perceived math competence and value across grade levels in a sample of 16,060 students (grades 4-9). Results demonstrated an increasing gender gap in perceived math competence, such that girls’ viewed their competence as declining more substantially than boys did across grade levels.
