Abstract

We observed a pattern of increased stressor reactivity consistent with a stress neuroadaptation caused by marijuana use. Marijuana deprivation increased startle potentiation to threat in two tasks among heavy users. This increased reactivity was limited to individuals with high general startle reactivity (GSR), suggesting GSR may be a risk biomarker.
