Standardized patients, or specially trained actors, provide an opportunity for students and licensed providers to build competence with clinical skills. This resource has typically been used in medical contexts; however, novel applications have been developed for psychological training, benefiting students, faculty supervisors, and clinicians seeking new psychotherapy skills.
