Abstract

College students in matched sections of a required general education course received embedded instruction on fact-checking online information (N=86) or traditional instruction (N=94). The fact-checking group showed significant gains in using external sources and Wikipedia to verify information. No gains in media-literacy knowledge or Wikipedia trust were observed.
