Understanding Risk for Alcohol Use in First-Year Students: The Role of Personality and Stress

Abstract

The present study models the relationship between perceived stress, personality, alcohol consumption, and alcohol-related problems in first year undergraduates. Data do not support stress as a moderator between personality and alcohol consumption/misuse. An interaction effect of gender is supported between alcohol consumption and Extraversion.
