Gaming to Escape, or Gaming to Explore? Support for the Two-Dimensional Model of Escapism in a Sample of Dedicated Gamers

Abstract

Stenseng and coworkers (Stenseng, Rise, & Kraft, 2012; Stenseng & Phelps, 2016) found evidence for a two-dimensional model of escapism in sport activities. Here, using the corresponding Escapism scale, the model was tested in a sample of dedicated gamers (N=126). Analyses strongly supported the presence of these dimensions in gaming.
