Abstract

Emoji have gained popularity in text-based communication. However, interpretation of emoji in text is unclear. Our research focuses on the semantic meaning of emoji and the influence that emoji have in context. Results suggest that emoji definitions are influenced by age and the emotion of emoji can influence sentence sentiment.
