Abstract
Common goldfish (Carrasius auratus) performed significantly better in a two-alternative forced choice discrimination on days on which first trial responses were correct (i.e., rewarded) compared to incorrect. This was regardless of whether fish received easy-to-hard training or were trained only on the most difficult stimulus contrast.
