Abstract
Using over 5.5 million screenshots of individuals’ everyday smartphone use, we examined in-screen sentiment by location of use, applications, and participant agency. We found that more positive language is seen (1) at cultural attractions, (2) in social media applications, and (3) in content actively produced rather than passively consumed.
