Abstract

Secondary psychopathy (impulsive, self-defeating lifestyle) correlated positively with college student drug consumption and drug and alcohol consequences; primary (selfish, uncaring, manipulative) correlated positively with alcohol consumption. Findings suggest two factors of psychopathic traits may differentially influence dimensions of substance abuse, and be linked to substance use disorders outside offender populations.
