Abstract

Adolescents reported on peers’ prosocial behavior and attributions about peers’ behavior for 10 consecutive school days. Victimization was positively related to adolescents’ attributions that others were only nice to be reciprocal or were unintentionally “nice.” Attributions about prosocial acts being unintentional also exacerbated how victimization was related to internalizing problems.
