Abstract
We present theory and data informing the development, validation, and predictive validity of the 20-item Social Media Mindsets Scale and the SMM framework on media use and well-being, with subscales of valence (“Social media is enhancing” vs. “harmful”) and perceived user agency (“Social media serves users” vs. “controls users”).
