Abstract
ERPs were recorded from 38 college-students during an auditory oddball task while simultaneously attending to a smartphone for a possible or expected text-message. Oddball tones elicited delayed P300 latencies when there was a possibility of receiving a text. Smartphone-induced divided attention may depend on the level of expectancy for communication.
