Abstract

We assessed four different active learning implementations. The sample consisted of 145 third- and fourth-grade students from three schools. Results indicated the four active learning implementations (a) produced equivalent learning gains on the hands-on activity but (b) produced distinct learning gains on a written measure requiring transfer of knowledge.
