Failure of the Testing Effect: Frequent Testing Not Associated with Higher Exam Scores in a Large, Lecture-Based Developmental Psychology Course

Abstract
Students in a large, lecture-based Developmental Psychology course were given frequent quizzes in an attempt to leverage the testing effect. The degree of content overlap between quiz questions and subsequent exam questions did not predict exam item performance (r = .05).
