Abstract

As part of a longitudinal study of sibling and friend relationships, we compared observed conflicts between adolescent sibling dyads, and mothers’ assessments of sibling relationships. Results suggest that mothers are not akin to overall conflict rate, however they were accurate at predicting sons’ conflict and aggression, and daughters’ prosocial behaviors.
