Abstract

We hypothesized that self-criticism and rumination would predict increased likelihood of future non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI); that sociodemographic disadvantage would predict increased likelihood of future NSSI; and that social support would predict lower likelihood of future NSSI. Results suggest that close interpersonal relationships may reduce risk for engaging in self-injurious behavior.
