Metacognitive Awareness in Traditional and Conditional Transitions Courses

Abstract

Metacognitive awareness is how well students are conscious of their cognitive abilities and strategies for learning. This research investigated the metacognitive awareness students gain after taking a transitions course the first semester of college. Two different types of transitions courses were associated with different types of metacognitive benefits.
