Abstract

While guidelines for creating research posters abound, they are based on intuition rather than evidence. To address this shortcoming and identify critical poster attributes, student participants rated the dissimilarity between pairs of posters. Multi-dimensional scaling revealed the importance of three attributes: minimalism (lack of clutter), text/picture balance and layout format.
