First Year College Experience: Online Self-Reflection Improves Content Retention

Abstract

This experimental study assesses the effect of teaching style (Lecture; Lecture + Online Self-reflection) on first-year students' knowledge retention (N=29 control group; N=28 study group). Results show that test scores were mediated by student-centered online activities to retain lecture knowledge. Establishing early routines and self-monitoring skills will be further discussed.
