APS Statement on Cancellation of APS 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the APS Board of Directors has determined that APS is no longer able to host the 32nd APS Annual Convention in Chicago, IL, USA, May 21-24, 2020 safely or in a way that meets the intended purpose of the event. More information about alternative options for presenting the science will be shared in the coming weeks. All registered attendees will be refunded in full.

Will my registration fees be refunded?

Yes, your registration fees will be refunded. We are currently processing these refunds. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your refund is processed. Please note that once your refund is processed, it will take 5-10 business days for it to post to your account. The refund will not instantly appear on your statement. Also, please make sure to check your spam folder for Cvent communications regarding your refund, in the event you do not see a refund e-mail in your inbox over the next two weeks. We ask for your patience and cooperation as our small staff works to process a large volume of refunds. Please contact us at convention@psychologicalscience.org if you have any questions.

We respectfully request that you not contact your credit card company to request a chargeback or to refute the charge, as this could impact APS’s ability to rapidly refund all registrants.

APS membership is processed separately from APS 2020 registration, and will not be automatically refunded. Our Membership Team is happy to work with you in the event you wish to request a refund, and they can be reached at member@psychologicalscience.org.

I am a sponsor or exhibitor – what happens to the fees I paid, and how can I stay connected to APS?

Please contact Yolie Keck at aps@sponsorshipboost.com to discuss options to move your support to a future meeting.

Will APS help with fees associated with the cancellation of my travel and hotel reservations?

APS is not responsible for fees associated with canceling transportation or accommodations. Most providers have made special provisions to address COVID-19 related issues.  Please contact your travel providers directly.

If you made your hotel reservations in the APS group room block at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, please refer to your confirmation message for information about how to modify or cancel your reservation. Should you have any questions about your reservation, please contact the Hyatt Regency Chicago directly at +1 (312) 565-1234.

I was scheduled to present at APS 2020.  Should I withdraw my submission or will I still have a chance to share my research?

APS is exploring opportunities for presenters to share their research online. We will inform you as soon as we have more details. Please wait for APS Staff to contact you regarding these options.

I already withdrew my abstract – can I take advantage of the options being developed for sharing my research?

Yes, you will be contacted directly with information about your options.

I applied for a poster award. Are poster awards still being conferred?

Yes, the selection committees are reviewing the submissions, and poster authors will be notified in the next few weeks/by early April.

What is the status of other upcoming APS meetings?

At this time, all other meetings will go on as scheduled. We are monitoring the CDC Information and will inform the APS community if there is any change to the status of a future meeting.

Can I get an official letter of cancellation?

A formal letter of cancellation will be available shortly.
