Perspectives on Psychological Science Call for Editor Nominations

New Deadline: April 30, 2021

The Association for Psychological Science (APS) invites nominations for the position of Editor of Perspectives on Psychological Science (PPS).

PPS publishes an eclectic mix of provocative reports and articles, including broad integrative reviews, overviews of research programs, meta-analyses, theoretical statements, and opinion pieces on emerging issues in the field, such as methodological reform, metascience, and systemic disparities within psychological research. The journal seeks to be an outlet that represents the breadth of viewpoints in all areas of psychological science and captures the full intellectual, geographic, theoretical, cultural, and methodological diversity of our field.

PPS accepts both invited and submitted articles written for a broad audience that spans the full spectrum of disciplines within psychological science. Special sections are commissioned by the Editor or sometimes spontaneously coalesce around important topics; recent special sections have been published on the topics of theory and moral psychology.

Selection Criteria: A nominee must be a member of APS and a recognized leader in psychological science. We especially encourage nominations of members of historically marginalized and underrepresented groups in psychological science. Criteria to be considered include:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and broad perspective on the field of psychological science
  • Understanding and appreciation of the field’s many subdisciplines
  • Commitment to cultivating a journal that reflects the full range of ideas, voices, and viewpoints in psychological science
  • Demonstrated research, writing, reviewing, and editing skills
  • Commitment to devoting time to editorial duties

Starting Date: The Editor should be prepared to begin handling all new manuscript submissions starting January 1, 2022. The length of the term is four years.

Nominations: Please provide a name and contact information for each nominee by April 30, 2021. Additional material may be sent, including curricula vitae and brief statements of interest or support, but at this point in the process, a name and contact information are sufficient. Self-nominations are welcomed.
