Abstract
A study with 70-km ultratrail runners examines dynamic changes in autonomous self-regulation and its interaction with effort (intensity, valence, heart rate) and well-being. Autonomous regulation profiles were often stable yet showed exertion-linked well-being dips; others shifted toward controlled/amotivation with rising effort intensity and reduced valence/well-being. Patterns were moderated by performance.
