Abstract
Textbooks often present scientific knowledge as statements about groups, situations, or processes (entities), but research typically progresses by making comparisons between entities. We demonstrate that alerting students to the comparative nature of psychological findings and encouraging them to systematically reverse the direction of the involved comparisons stimulates scientific advancement.
