Differences in Reasoning Ability Among Children Born in the First and Last Months of a Given Academic Year

Children born in the months of January, February and March are more likely to test into gifted and talented programs compared to cohort of classmates born in October, November and December. Parents academically redshirt their children so that they may begin first grade at age seven versus age six.
