Abstract

Variable font technology now enables precise manipulation of typographic factors affecting reading performance. This study investigated the effects of font width and weight in serif and sans serif fonts on reading speed and comprehension. Findings revealed these factors alone do not significantly change performance, while reading speed decreases with age.
