My Honor and Other’s Dignity: Predicting Katagelasticism from Self- and Other-Concerns in Dignity, Honor and Face Cultural Logics

A study with two community samples (N₁=361, N₂=271) examined the relationship between disposition towards ridicule (i.e., katagelasticism) and endorsement of dignity, honor, and face concerns for self and others. In both samples, katagelasticism was best predicted by higher concern for self-honor and lower concern for the dignity of others.
