Abstract

Objectified women reported higher relative deprivation, lower self-regulation, and more dishonest tendencies than nonobjectified women. Moreover, relative deprivation and self-regulation serially mediated the effect of objectification on dishonest tendencies. These results reveal one mechanism for understanding behavioral responses following sexual objectification. They also offer insights for intervention strategies.
