Abstract
We explored whether independence-interdependence self-construals impact source memory in underrepresented samples (South/Southeast Asians). Forty-nine participants encoded objects with individualistic (WORK) or collectivistic (HOME) contexts. Multivariate analyses showed higher interdependence correlated with a source memory advantage for item-HOME pairs. Higher independence correlated with item memory. Independence and interdependence affect memory separately.
