Abstract
We examined emotional expression patterns in four Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries and compared them with those in East Asia, Latin and North America. Findings show that SSA participants manifest distinct patterns of emotional expression that reflect and reinforce the integration of personal identity within densely knit interdependent social relations.
