Believe Me, I Want to Improve Our Country: Expressions of Constructive and Blind Patriotism Differently Affect Perceptions of Social Entrepreneurs

We studied if expressing constructive versus blind patriotism affects views on social entrepreneurs. Findings: ratings of social entrepreneurs on constructive patriotism predicted general perceptions positively (Study 1). Constructive patriotism participants viewed and supported a fictional social entrepreneur more favorably than those in a blind patriotism condition (Studies 2 and 3).
