Abstract
Across two studies, we measured enemyship beliefs in Kenya, Ghana, Japan and the US (N = 990). We found that enemyship is higher in collectivist regions. Being vigilant towards your ingroup is most central in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially among older adults and in more ambiguous situations.
