Abstract

We developed the Face-Saving Lies Scale, a univariate 15-item scale designed to assess one’s tendency to tell face-saving lies. As hypothesized, we found individuals with low self-esteem and high levels of shame displayed a greater tendency toward telling face-saving lies.
