Abstract
We evaluated the role of maternal depressive symptoms in the relationship between mother-infant neural synchrony and infant development. 139 mother-infant dyads participated in our study. Questionnaire-based and EEG hyperscanning methods produced results indicating that synchrony and maternal depression interact to predict poorer infant outcomes. We consider methodological and societal implications.
