“I Feel like a Fake Parent:” Transitioning to Parenthood in the NICU

The current qualitative studies explored the transition to parenthood in the NICU from parent and staff perspectives. Parents reported that they felt detached from their infant and unsure how to care for them. Providers shared that normalizing the parent-infant experience and engaging in routine care tasks can promote parental adjustment.
