Abstract

Just over 458 participants completed an online survey to explore the possible link between romantic relationship initiation preferences and individual differences. Being higher in egalitarian beliefs was associated with greater preference for being friends before dating, whereas higher extraversion, avoidant attachment, and love-at-first-sight beliefs was negatively associated with friends-first preferences.
