“Being in the NICU Is Hard, We're Here to Help”: Barriers and Facilitators to Integrating Psychosocial Care into the NICU

Our study examined staff perspectives on barriers and facilitators to engaging parents in psychosocial care in the NICU. Our focus groups with staff revealed barriers of parental guilt, perceived burden, busy schedules, and stigma. They also reported that free, standardized, accessible, and flexible care would help facilitate parental participation.
