Abstract

Chinese international students show a significant other-enhancement effect in memory, contrasting Western tendencies to self-enhance. Although there were no significant ERP effects, there was a visual trend for self-enhancement effects in LPP and other-enhancement effects in N400. Results suggest cultural differences in prioritizing information related to self versus close others.
