Abstract
This study explored the pathways linking childhood maltreatment to later-life psychological distress, focusing on the mediating roles of current emotional invalidation, emotion dysregulation, self-compassion, and self-coldness. Findings highlight that current emotional invalidation is a central mediator, highlighting the relevance of current psychosocial factors in mental health interventions for maltreatment-related distress.
