It's (Not) Personal: Leader Justifications for Expressions of Anger

This exploratory study examines how explanations for a leader’s expressed, negative emotion impacts followers' affective and cognitive empathy. Specifically, we manipulate the justification a leader provides for an expression of anger (work vs. personal), and examine its influence on follower empathy, and downstream effects on follower forgiveness.
