Development of Auditory Processing in Infants: Sensitivity to Pitch Contour in Music and Speech

We investigated English monolingual infants' sensitivity to pitch contour changes in music and speech. Sixteen infants (Mage = 11 months) were exposed to pitch-altered stimuli, and their looking time at the screen was measured. Results indicated emerging sensitivity, but no significant correlation between pitch detection abilities and home musical exposure.
