Restricted Discourse: The Social Lives of Queer Thai University Students

Abstract

We investigated Thai LGBTQ+ student experiences in higher education. We interviewed seven LGBTQ+ Thai students and analyzed 30 Thai media articles, conducting narrative and critical discourse analyses to uncover the psychological and cultural dynamics at play. Findings indicate that LGBTQ+ Thai students experience marginalization despite Thailand’s progressive reputation.
