Abstract
We examined the predictive associations between parental invalidation, self-compassion, identification with Asian values, and emotion dysregulation among 341 Singaporean adolescents. Parental invalidation and self-compassion predicted difficulties in emotion regulation a year later. Furthermore, identification with Asian values moderated the associated between parental invalidation and emotion regulation difficulties.
