Attention Improves Recall: A General Psychology Demonstration

Increasing attention improves recall in a simple demonstration. An island-shirt-wearing lecturer draws attention to it or not.  Data collected from General Psychology classes shows that seeing but not being drawn to the shirt is recalled at a level of 49%, while those to whom attention is drawn show 88% recall.
