Experimentally Investigating Four Different Approaches for Increasing Help-Seeking Among People with Depression: Self-Distancing, Overheard Communication, Social Comparison, and Attitude-Strength.
Increasing help-seeking among people with depression is wrought with challenge, and some attempts have backfired. This symposium presents the results of multiple experiments, all guided by social psychology scholarship (i.e., self-distancing overheard communication, social comparison, attitude-strength), and all seeking to increase help-seeking attitudes and intentions among people with depression.
