Compromised learning has been advanced as a pathogenic marker in psychopathology. Conditioning research often focuses on passive fear learning whereas pathological avoidance is a hallmark of clinical conditions and pathway to disability. This symposium investigates the transdiagnostic importance of avoidance by combining cutting-edge experimental research in anxiety and pain disorders.
